The Family Scholar House is an organization dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty by giving single-parent students the support they need to earn a four-year college degree. This project included the renovation of the historic Milburn T. Maupin Elementary school building into apartments and the addition of a community space and computer room as well as two other buildings for multi-family housing. The renovation included the restoration of the bell tower as well as the original front entrance, stabilization of the brick façade, and the removal of load bearing walls to accommodate the space planning for the apartments. 2014 Preservation Louisville Award
